Committee of The Whole, based on Frank Herbert’s short story of the same name, was devised over 13 months as a part of Pace University’s Night of Original Works Festival. Committee of The Whole shows a senate hearing regarding an amendment to the Taylor Grazing Act of 1934, led by senators Emery, Flowers, and Tiborough. Despite their unwavering stance, they are forced to change their minds as William D. Custer, a simple farmer with a Ph.D. brought in to testify about the amendment, brings a device that will change the trajectory of everyone on earth.

The Original Sin was conceptually created, designed, and directed by Lani Boschulte. The Performance, which used excerpts from Fefu and Her Friends by María Fornés and Why Women are Blamed for Everything: Exposing the Culture of Victim-Blaming, touched on women’s social expectations. The performance relied mainly on movement to relay the message and was performed as part of the Pace Makers showcase at the Institute for the Arts Barcelona in Catalonia Spain.

Written and Directed by Keelay Gibson, Pumpernickel had its original debut at Pace University in October of 2023. Pumpernickel follows curator and “artivist” Xavier X Xavier and their brother Roland as they advance in their respective careers and compete ideologically with one another. This show asks how we should deal with the commodification of black trauma and what is the purpose of art? Combining science fiction, social justice, and bureaucracy Pumpernickel is a great comedy that makes the audience ask deep questions and leaves them wanting for more.

9 to 5 Directed by Rebecca Murillo, this fresh twist on the old classic was fun, colorful, and made an ode to the social movements happening in the time period. 9 to 5 was created as a revenge fantasy for women who felt overworked, underpaid and disrespected. Using original songs from Dolly Parton this musical takes the movie up a notch in a fun and funky way.
